Park haven apartments9/1/2023 ![]() ![]() An additional 14,000 square feet provides space for a Food Retail Expansion to Support Health Programs (FRESH) grocery store. 7,000 square feet of the building’s ground floor is reserved for BronxWorks Workforce Development programs. Eileen Torres, Executive Director of BronxWorks, speaks at the ribbon cutting.īronxWorks is providing onsite services to residents, funded through an Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) grant awarded by the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). All units are available for families and individuals with incomes up to 80% of the Area Median Income, and they include access to amenities such as a wellness center, resident lounge, children’s play area, and onsite laundry. The new ten story, 180,000-square foot building includes studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units. Bart Mitchell, President & CEO of The Community Buliders, speaks at the ribbon cutting. Park Haven is TCB’s first of its kind in the New York City area. They work with community partners to develop, finance, and operate residential communities and award-winning, affordable, and mixed-income communities throughout the United States. TCB is a nonprofit real estate developer whose goal is to build and sustain strong communities. BronxWorks will partner with the project to provide onsite social services, including workforce development. The instatement of this development was made possible by The Community Builders (TCB), the NYC Department of Housing Prevention and Development (HPD), and the NYC Housing Development Corporation (HDC). The Park Haven Buildingįifty of these units are designated as permanent housing for chronically homeless families and individuals. Together with the state and the county, Novin Development is doing what it does best: putting roofs over people's heads.On November 1, BronxWorks participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for Park Haven Apartments, a 178-unit affordable housing development in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx. The Board of Supervisors knows that, which is why it voted unanimously in September to accept the Homekey Award. Sadly, Santa Cruz County is high on that list. Homekey is part of AB 140, which uses various streamlining bills to pave the way for affordable housing in areas of the state that need it most. Students will no longer have to "couch surf " families will no longer have to live in their cars and veterans, those who we respect the most, won't have to sleep in transient hotels or on the streets.Ībode Services will help support the residents of Park Haven Plaza in many ways, including career counseling and educational advancement. On June 9, the State of California awarded Park Haven Plaza an opportunity to permanently house a vulnerable population. The project is the first of its kind proposed in unincorporated Santa Cruz County through the State of California's Project Homekey. Park Avenue LP, which includes Novin Development and the Central Valley Coalition for Affordable Housing, as well as the County of Santa Cruz, are proud to offer Park Haven Plaza as a haven for people in need.īesides being near transit and the amenities of Cabrillo College, Park Haven Plaza will have the support of Abode services onsite.Īlso, the project respects the riparian environment, is largely screened from public view due to its location and site topography, and will offer a new and valuable neighborhood presence. With this $10.7 million grant, Santa Cruz County has the unique opportunity to help veterans, families, and vulnerable young adults through one of the toughest times in their lives: finding safe, permanent housing. Park Haven Plaza is officially a Homekey Award winner, the first in unincorporated Santa Cruz County!Īnd once it's complete next December, it's bound to become a model for the state. ![]()
